Build robots. Bring computers back to life. Then teach somebody else.

Construye robots. Devuelve computadoras a la vida. Luego enséñale a alguien más.

Learn robotics or computer refurbishment by doing real work for other people. Rebuild three computers for the community and earn one of your own. Then pass the skill to the next student.

The idea is older than us.

La idea es más vieja que nosotros.

“Each one, teach one.” The phrase was born in the United States during slavery, when a person who learned to read made it a duty to teach someone else. It was carried into the literacy movements of the Philippines, the political prisoners' classrooms at Robben Island, and the adult education campaigns of Jamaica and Nigeria.

Cicero and Durango, since 2000

Cicero y Durango, desde el año 2000

Six students and ten computers, the first year. By 2001 the governor of Durango was sending transportation, and students from here were teaching four hundred people in a cultural center. In 2003, Durango families started hosting our students in their homes — and in 2004 families here returned it, and have been hosting ever since.

In 2008 it stopped being safe to travel, and the trips ended. The computers didn't. A hundred a year kept going south, and the exchange kept coming north, every year. The thousandth computer arrived in 2015.

And then students here started teaching Durango over the internet — years before the pandemic made everyone else do it. By the time the world discovered virtual peer teaching, Cicero and Durango had been doing it for years.
